The Airbus A220, formerly CSeries of Canadian Bombardier, is expected to be certified in Russia before the year-end.
The Russian civil aviation regulator Rosaviatsiya was previously being expected to certify the Airbus's A220 series jets in the middle of this year for operations in the Russian Federation.
We continue to work with the Russian aviation authorities, which are providing us with full support on certification issues and intend to certify the aircraft before the end of 2019,
said Julien Franiatte, the head of Airbus Russia, during MAKS 2019.
The state-run leasing companies the Ilyushin Finance Co (IFC) and State Transport Leasing Company (GTLK) has already placed orders for 20 A220-300 jets in total. (Flieerfaust note: GTLK already took delivery of their first A220 last week).
The question now is which airline will be the launch operator of the A220-300 in Russia...
