Switzerland : SBB Postpones Entry Into Service Again - Bombardier Trains - Moved from December 9 to Soon Before Christmas
Should be entering into service before Christmas with the Swiss Federal Railways (Schweizerische Bundesbahnen: SBB)
December 6, 2018 - from Basler Zeitung
From this Sunday, the Swiss Federal Railways (Schweizerische Bundesbahnen: SBB) wanted to start its new double-decker trains between St. Gallen and Geneva in regular scheduled operation. Nothing will come of it. The new double-decker long-distance trains from Bombardier will be delayed further.
Actually they should have been scheduled for this Sunday December 9 on the IC 1 line between St. Gallen, Zurich and Geneva airport. Nothing will come of it now: The first vehicles will run on this line later and, according to SBB, "probably before Christmas". On the Interregio lines between Chur, St. Gallen, Zurich and Basel, however, the new trains should be on the rails from Sunday.
The reason for the renewed delay is that not all of the currently available trains "have the required operational stability," according to SBB. She claims in a statement from the manufacturer Bombardier "that the deficiencies are remedied immediately".
Bombardier assured that and was supported by SBB specialists. In addition, Bombardier will implement measures to ensure that the trains are to drive more quietly.
