The Canadian government announced on 19 March that it would contribute an "aviation task force" to the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Mali (MINUSMA) for 12 months.
It said the task force would include CH-147F Chinook helicopters "to provide urgently needed transport and logistics capacity for the MINUSMA mission", CH-146 Griffon (Bell 412EP) utility helicopters to act as armed escorts, and support personnel, the government said in a statement.
It provided no further details about the number of aircraft and personnel involved or where in Mali they will be deployed.
