November 7, 2014 – Just wanted to let you know before the week-end, FTV3, presently in Wichita, did have its "left" engine started yesterday. And today, its right engine as well. The Wichita Bombardier Flight Test team is continuing the proper FTV3 for its return to flight. Many upgrades have been applied to the aircraft.
Remember, FTV3 did not fly since the whole CSeries test vehicles were grounded on May 29 because of the engine incident on FTV1 while it was being repaired by Pratt & Whitney.
This will mark the return to flight of the whole set of FTVs that have been grounded since the incident mentioned above.
Since May 29, FTV2 did its return to flight on September 7, FTV4 followed on September 15, and just yesterday, FTV1 did its return to flight on November 7, 2014. Expect FTV3 "within" a week to be doing the same, if you ask me.
What's next? A show in China next week, in Zhuhai will be the main Focus.
- I'm expecting some news about the CSeries (orders you say? Two different customers maybe? Let's see).
- I'm available to cover the action "on site" if I'm invited! Maybe at the next show?
Good week-end to you all!
