CSeries FTV3 is Flying Today! – CSeries Engine Saga is Over
This is the first flight of the CSeries Flight Test Vehicle #3 since the May 29 incident that occurred on FTV1 at Mirabel airport while its engines were being serviced by Pratt& Whitney specialists.
FTV3 has been preparing to return to flight in Wichita, Kansas with its new modified Pratt & Whitney PurePower engines for a while, the aircraft systems received the latest software updates and modifications learned from the other FTVs flights.
Since May 29 2014 incident, the first aircraft that did return to flight was FTV2 on September 7, 2014, followed by FTV4 on September 15, 2004 and FTV1 on November 6, 2014. With FTV3 now back to flight it concludes the infamous engine incident permanently, we hope, and turns the attention to the release to flight of the first "longer" CSeries CS300 (F-FFDK) and also FTV5, the first CSeries aircraft completed like a production aircraft, i.e. with full cabin interior, seats, carpets, overhead bins, hvac (heat, ventilating and air conditioning), entertainment systems, crew galley, lavatories, etc…Yes, the works!
Again, the CSeries / Pratt & Whitney Engine Saga is over…
FTV1 is also in flight now in Wichita concurrenly with FTV3.
