November 5, 2020 - 9:30am (14:00 UTC) by Sylvain Faust for www.FliegerFaust.com

Remember the Alamo all you wish – Boeing most certainly does not remember the CSeries - but Canadians do...

And for sure, Canadians will remember for quite a long time --if not for ever -- what Boeing went up to, trying to just snuff out the Bombardier Cseries. To prevent if from ever entering the US market, scarred as it was Bombardier was about to become just another Airbus right in their backyard. On April 27, 2017 Boeing even took legal action to prevent Bombardier from being able to deliver in the US any Cseries assembled in Canada. Why? Because exactly a year earlier, Bombardier had received its first order –and a major one for that matter-- from a US Airlines, as others started suddenly appeared interested to do the same.

On April 28 2016, Delta Airlines had placed an order for 75 CSeries and option for 50 more.

Today with the current situation at Boeing, not having anything "NEW" to contribute to this market segment, --where the CSeries is the new flying whiz kid on the block--, trying to STOP or, at least, to drastically slow down Bombardier from entering for good the US market, was imperative for Boeing. All along, it is also to be remembered the Boeing management already knew about all the technical and safety problems that would soon plague their latest revision of the 1960s 737, the infamous 737 MAX.

Boeing knew perfectly well, as we all did, that if the CSeries could not enter the US market (and with China not behaving like it was expected -not a single order even after all the help Bombardier provided for fixing the design of their upcoming COMAC C919, wing etc.) it would be next to impossible for Bombardier to achieve any measure of success with this new aircraft.

Plainly, the CSeries would be too expensive to build unless some major orders were "secured" in markets where the expectations for so much more are easy to comprehend. The US certainly qualifies as a major market, doesn't it! Orders of such magnitude would have allowed the supply chain more breathing space, so to say, with larger guaranteed volume orders by Bombardier. And providing Bombardier with lower unit costs for each and every component used into the making/assembly of each CSeries aircraft. This is in theory.

Remember that Bombardier still would have needed more money to increase the size of its production facility combined with assembly process optimization to permit a substantially greater number of aircraft to be produced per month. The debt level was already at a drastic record high, making it almost impossible to borrow more.

By the way, did you know the new CSeries dedicated building "Final Assembly Line" (FAL) constructed at Mirabel Airport Bombardier facility was not completely built, as it was originally expected to be? Bombardier was already trying to save money everywhere even before the first CSeries delivery, a program that was getting so expensive, so much more in fact than planned by the top management at Bombardier under the then CEO of the company, Pierre Beaudoin promoted in 2008, son of Claire Bombardier and Laurent Beaudoin and grandchild of the founder Joseph Armand Bombardier. Before 2008 Pierre Beaudoin was President of Bombardier Aerospace since December 2004 under who the CSeries was also managed.

Focusing on Bombardier Inc, it is sad to say the company was (and still is) caught in a catch 22 situation driven by the #1 priority of the controlling/majority shareholder, i.e. the Bombardier and Beaudoin families (aka "The Family").

As mentioned by Charles Bombardier, member of the board of Bombardier Inc. son of Andre Bombardier and grandchild of the founder Joseph Armand Bombardier, it was no secret that The Family never wanted to let go off their absolute majority control of the company.

As shareholders of over 50% of the total vote, The Family's #1 priority is nor the business, neither the shareholders interests, but an imperative necessity never to yield an inch of their total and absolute control of the empire. Not a very sound business priority if you ask anyone, unless you have something else than the Business at heart.

Charles Bombardier: "The key is keeping control of the company and passing it on to the next generation…" Reference 1

That has been the major show-stopper for the growth of Bombardier Inc. in the last few years. Why? No Bombardier CEO for a while (Bellemare or currently Martel) could get new money, financing from the stock market since doing so, --issuing more shares, creating dilution--, as this would bring that "total power trip" to an end, a voting power currently barely standing above 50%. This simply means no new money to finance new ideas, no new money to repay some of that large debt, no new money to make the CSeries production cheaper and a stock market realizing more and more about this dictatorial management. Ever assisted to a Bombardier Inc. annual shareholder meeting?

Some analyst opinions: source https://www.fliegerfaust.com/the-fall-of-bombardie...

"It's a story of corporate arrogance, greed and mismanagement by a family company that has multiple voting shares and doesn't have to answer to an independent board or to the common shareholders…" David Baskin, President Baskin Wealth Management.

"And being a family-held company, it became harder and harder because they wouldn't give up control. If it were an outside board of directors with adults on it, this probably would never have happened…" Norman Levine, managing director, Portfolio Management Corporation.

This total control mentality also forbade Bombardier Inc. from merging, or making large and very beneficial partnership with other key players, as they preferred remaining the sole captain of their smaller and smaller sinking ship. Is this any good for the other shareholders?

Bombardier Inc. Class B shares that was appreciated at above $24 a few years ago is now valued at $0.30 at the time of writing this article. How many investors got their investment zapped to near zero just so The Family could keep their total control of the company? Remember, the Class B shares is worth 1/10 of a vote and was created to help The Family keeps total control. The Class A shares is worth one vote and what is mainly own by the Family.

Currently on Twitter you can see Boeing doing targeted advertising to Canadians pushing for the Canada to purchase their latest version of the Hornet (called Super Hornet) fighter jet aircraft to replace Canadian Forces old CF-18 Hornets.

See their ad below (English and French) and continue reading lower....

Paid advertising aimed at English speaking Canadians:

Nous faisons équipe avec des leaders canadiens de l'aérospatiale sur notre offre d'avions de chasse. S'il est sélectionné pour le #FFCP, le F/A-18 #SuperHornet apportera 61$ milliards canadiens et près de 250 000 nouveaux emplois à l'économie canadienne.
— Boeing Defense (@BoeingDefense) November 2, 2020

Paid advertising aimed at French speaking Canadians (continue reading below)

We're teaming with Canadian aerospace leaders on our fighter jet offer. If selected for the Future Fighter Capability Project, the F/A-18 #SuperHornet will bring C$61B and nearly 250,000 new jobs to the Canadian economy. #FFCP
— Boeing Defense (@BoeingDefense) November 2, 2020

It is interesting to remember that Boeing hit a wall in its relationship with the Canadians, in 2017, when the Canadian Embassador in Paris during the "Salon du Bourget" Paris Airshow 2017 blacklisted Boeing from attending any of the private events held by the Embassy and where Boeing was usually invited (source https://www.fliegerfaust.com/byebye-boeing-defence-blacklisted-by-the-government-of-canada-not-invi-2449631089.html)

Boeing was also on a good track for supplying their new P-8 Poseidon surveillance aircraft (valued at US$250 million each) to Canada for the replacement of the very hold CP-140 Aurora base on the Lockheed Electra of the 50s but this project was also put on ice by Ottawa.

"Some analysts say Boeing carelessly put at risk billions of dollars of defence work or pandered to growing protectionism" Source: "Boeing is taking extreme measures to make sure Bombardier does not become another Airbus" https://www.businessinsider.com/boeing-bombardier-complaint-canada-airbus-2017-5

Hey, that was less than 3 years ago.

Does Boeing think that the Canadian people has already forgotten about the sad consequences of filing their petition against Bombardier for allegedly "Dumping" the CSeries aircraft that to the US? The reason that Bombardier could not close any further sales to any US Airlines and cancelling the value of the CSeries program for the investment market, bringing Bombardier on the hedge of bankruptcy as confirmed by their then CEO Alain Bellemare and forcing the company in giving away for $1 (yes, one) over 50% of the CSeries program to Airbus as a first of a series of steps trying to stop the bleeding. Does Boeing think Canadians forget so easily?

We're Canadians hey… and sure hope the government in Ottawa still remember who they represent and work for.

On the other hand, I personally think that the CF-18 fighter jet replacement process (has been rigged?) is deeply favoring the F-35 aircraft made by Lockeed Martin, since that is what the Department of National Defence (DND) prefers, I'm told. Simply search Google for "Fliegerfaust F-35" for more.

Still if Canada selects the F-35, this is an order given to the US. Is this a gift for almost bankrupting Bombardier Inc. and eradicating them from the Commercial Aircraft business for good? Airbus did offer their fine Eurofighter Typhoon but decided to refrain from spending more resources and bidding since seeing how "F-35 specific" the requirements has been written. SAAB is still in the race with their very capable Gripen fighter jet having submitted their proposal to Ottawa for the "Future Fighter Capability Project" (FFCP).

Airbus and SAAB offered to have their fighter jet totally assembled in Canada and with an increased number of parts directly made in Canada among other incentives. Does Ottawa care?

Good luck Boeing…

So sorry for Boeing that they did not acquired the CSeries instead of trying to kill it now making in the process one of their worst enemies now in the hands of Airbus, renamed A220. The A220 design has legs (and wings) toward future models when Boeing 737 definitively reached the end of its life, when not crashing and taking some lives.

Vision… Management… and having their people (or shareholders) as #1 priority… Let's hope Airbus and the government of Canada share plenty of those essential qualities.

First A220/CSeries Made In Alabama To Be Delivered - MSN 55070

Updated October 22, 2020 - 11:00am (15:00 UTC) - see end of article of updated aircraft delivery details

The first delivery of an Airbus A220 aircraft made in the USA will be happening tomorrow, October 22.

This A220-300 (CSeries CS300) made at the latest A220 factory located in the United States of America has been built and tested and accepted for delivery by Delta Air Lines.

All previous A220 aircraft (and Bombardier CSeries) aircraft have so far been made and delivered from the original CSeries factory located in Mirabel, Quebec, Canada. This A220, manufacturer serial number (MSN) 55070 (the 70th A220-300 produced) is the first A220 made and delivered from another factory.

Read also "Video: AIRBUS 1st A220/CSeries Assembled In Mobile, Alabama - But..."

Contrary to what we read about Delta Air Lines not taking any more deliveries of new aircraft until 2022, Delta is to take delivery of this aircraft from Mobile, Alabama tomorrow around 15h00 (3pm) local time, or 20h00 UTC.

Another A220-300 was supposed to be the first (MSN 55069) but technical problems during its assembly made Airbus decide to put it aside for full inspection.

As I wrote a year ago on September 23 on Fliegerfaust.com (read here), a false fire alarm caused this aircraft to be foamed. The foam being a very corrosive product did create a layer of oxidation on the A220 fuselage left without the protection since not yet painted.

Airbus came to the conclusion that the whole fuselage/wiring/etc. of this A220 aircraft had to be totally analyzed/reworked making the next aircraft in line the "the first" aircraft to be delivered. MSN 55070 it was. Read more about this here

With over 70 A220 aircraft already planned to be made in Mobile Alabama simply with the orders from airlines such as Delta (excluding the ones already delivered from Mirabel, Quebec) and Jet Blue.

Those aircraft would normally have been built in Quebec if Airbus had not decided to build another factoryof A220 in the US. This certainly helped the company diplomatic relations with Washington, DC. Funny part is that Bombardier of Montreal, Quebec and the Quebec Government helped to have this factory built outside Canada, one with cash and the other by diluting the value of its ownership in Airbus Canada, owner of the CSeries aircraft now renamed A220.

You will be able to follow its flight tomorrow live using apps such as FlightRadar24 or its website by looking this new Delta Airlines A220-300 under its FAA registration N302DU. As a side note, the first Jet Blue airline aircraft to be delivered is MSN 55099.

Funny thing… here is what Google.com says when ask about where the A220 (CSeries) aircraft is built:

Two new Airbus 220-300 will be leaving Mirabel, Quebec Airbus factory for Egypt soon. Currently on its way from Cairo an EgyptAir team will be arriving Mirabel Airport shortly.

EgyptAir is using one of its Airbus A220 aircraft to carry its employees to Canada under the flight name MSR3331

This will make three A220 aircraft flying back to Egypt in a few days from Mirabel, Quebec airport, YMX, the first one on July 24 being MSR3331 flying back home.

Also, follow closely the event happening at Airbus A220 Mobile, Alabama factory on July 30… You will be hearing more about this shortly from Airbus PR team I am sure.

Air Canada should be taking delivery of another Airbus A220-300 from Mirabel factory, MSN (manufacturer serial number) 55090 and MSN 55075, the second A220 made in Mobile, Alabama for Delta, had now 2 pre-delivery flights done.

Airbus A320neo aircraft equipped with Pratt & Whitney engine

NEWS: Airbus Has Ordered Bombardier to STOP All Work Related To The A320neo Nacelle - Move Work To China - Mexico

Click Like to Follow Fliegerfaust Facebook page to get the News ASAP / Share to share this post now.

10:00 (14:00 UTC) - June 24, 2020 - by Sylvain Faust for Fliegerfaust

Airbus has ordered Bombardier to stop all work related to the A320neo Nacelle

As can be read on the following email (see below) sent to Bombardier employees Airbus requested a STOP on any work related to the A320neo nacelle given to Bombardier in Belfast. Bombardier received a contract from Airbus for the making of the thrust reverser parts, a contract that was believed to last over 20 years.

Email sent to Bombardier employees

This could be related to the decision by Airbus to also layoff more workers from Nantes, France where the nacelle were assembled and moving the Pratt & Whitney engine nacelle work to UTC located in the USA.

UTC would be responsible for the making of the A320neo nacelle used when a customer select the Pratt & Whitney engine option. Safran would be building the nacelle when the CFM engine is selected.

Basically, the engine maker will also built and supply their engine associated nacelle.

It is unclear the amount of work/new jobs UTC will be sending to China and Mexico, but this is highly expected.

This 10 year contract with UTC was made public a few days ago after government of France announced to provide a US$17 billion (15 billion euro) aid package granted to their aeronautic sector.

Expecting You To Be Stupid The Media Are So Insane- About What?

May 20, 2020 - by Sylvain Faust for Fliegerfaust - Updated June 16, 2020

Think about this one…

Obama smokes cigarettes ingesting tar, nicotine, etc, all that healthy stuff... Nothing is wrong here... But President Donald Trump takes a prescribed drug that is helping if he gets the Coronavirus, a drug so popular, the 2nd most used after Aspirin, so safe... ( listen to the specialists), but because it is Trump the media must make it be wrong and keep you in the dark... Just because it is Donald Trump?

Are you not so tired of all that manipulation just to be Anti-Trump? Whatever you call this, this is wrong. It is manipulation! Time to wake up...

Listen entirely to this... if you REALLY want to know? But this is just an example... keep reading below

What about that disinfectant, the research on that UVC light that could be ingested via a tiny fiber optic cable into the lungs allowing the UVC light to reach the potential infected area (were you made aware of this by the media?). Did the media "explain" what President Donald Trump was referring to? Did they report to you all the current state of the research using the UVC light and where it is already being implemented to fight the virus?

But this is what journalism is all about, to report and explain... but did they?

Weird... the answer is NO. But why? Because it was President Trump!

How do you call this? You think you live in a free world when the information is manipulated and biased? What do we say of China? Russia? Manipulating the information? Oh well... It is happening in the "Free World" too.

The people (all y'all like they say in Texas) are not as stupid as the media would love you to be. Remember, we are just a bunch of deplorables said Hillary Clinton, telling us all how see did judge us if you don't think in line of the rich speudo elite agenda. That did not turn too good, still with the media pushing against Donald Trump to become President of the United States, it backfired, he got elected.

Listen below to the analysis of what Hillary Clinton said, very interesting. Keep reading below:

The same is happening again with the media being so polarized against Trump, but the people are not as stupid as the media would hope, the mainstream media can not control the Internet (yet: Justin Trudeau in Canada is hoping with a new law he wishes to pass. Amazing, right? Getting a licence/permission to write, to talk, and to think? Sounds perfectly like what fascism is, limiting or not having the choice and the TOTAL information.

From Wikipedia about Joseph Goebbels: " Goebbels's Propaganda Ministry quickly gained and exerted control over the news media, arts, and information in Germany. He was particularly adept at using the relatively new media of radio and film for propaganda purposes..."

Today the new media is not the radio but the Internet, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and all those online forums, bloggers... As you should know, Goebbels was a German Nazi politician and Reich Minister of Propaganda of Nazi Germany from 1933 to 1945.

"Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it", George Santayana.

This is, once more, going to backfire, taking the traditional media in the same direction, a lower trust confidence, lower and lower years after years with lower income from their advertisers. (Are we wondering why in Canada Justin Trudeau' government is financing the mainstream media more and more? Media that the people trust less and less... amazing, right? Not really).

If you think this is all BS... it is probably because you are getting your "news" from always the same sources instead of a variety of all.

Remember, when everything you hear about someone or something is always GOOD or always BAD... 100% of the time on the same side... Remember, this is not possible... there is a problem, check elsewhere too just to see if you are being manipulated, then YOU make the call. But why are those media 100% biased to one side only?

Think for yourself, something the media does not like you doing.

Using more and more of those "commentators" to twist the information into a pre-digested format, holding your thought process by the hand toward their goal... sounds like fascism? When you are no longer provided with the real and total unbiased information ending with only ONE choice... it sure looks, smells, tastes like it.

One of the most important thing I did learn from my mother is to always challenge what I'm told. Look everywhere, ask questions, listen, look, compare, make up your own mind, yourself. Do not trust what I am saying, do it for you, the future of your children, honor your ancestors who built your country from generations of hard work, do it for your country...

Below are some different interesting news sources. Do not stop watching your current selection of news providers. Compare their topics, their "spin", see what is important for one to report to you about and how it relates with the other news provider, one talking about the color of President Donalrd Trump's hair (really?) and the other about his political decisions instead maybe…

Why do you think all those documents related to the assassination of President John F. Kennedy have not been made public STILL in 2020? Really? Why not? Because you do not deserve the truth! Who cares about you, the people?

A government of the people, by the people, for the people said Abraham Lincoln... not a government of the media, by the media, for the media..... $$$$$

My name is Normand Hamel. After a 35 year career in aviation I retired in 2009 to better concentrate on my favourite activities: reading and writing. If you wonder what Run-up Pad means it refers to this special section of a run-up area on an airport that can be heated up in cold temperatures to prevent an aircraft from slipping forward when power is applied to test the engines. It also refers symbolically to the yellow pad I am using to write these articles for which I intend to bring our readers to contribution to test my ideas, like one would test an engine to make sure it works properly.
