They ran excitedly when they saw their milk bottles are ready for them. Baby elephants can drink up to 11 litres of milk a day! 🍼 These keepers have a very honourable task to raise the orphans, often left without their mothers due to brutal ivory trade. The David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust is proud to have raised and returned to the wild over 150 calves. Before they are released they are taken on some sort of day trips to meet the wild herds and learn how to communicate and behave with the wild elephants. This was the sweetest day in #Kenya ! It takes about 10 years for the elephant to be ready to become part of the wild heard so you can imagine how dedicated the task of raising them is! None of it would be possible without the help of kind people around the world so if you are interested in fostering an orphaned elephant please visit @dswt page and the link in their bio will guide you to more information! #davidsheldrickwildlifetrust #daphnesheldrick • • • •
