Military contracts deemed essential by the government allow the aeronautical company Héroux-Devtek to maintain activity almost entirely in its Quebec factories.
"We reoriented our activities to prioritize those in defense. It allows us to have the least possible impact on our workforce. I would rather see my unemployment that employees at work, "says the Journal the big boss of Héroux-Devtek, Martin Brassard.
The company still had to lay off 85 of its Quebec employees. But around 700 others still work in its Longueuil, Montreal and Laval facilities.
Héroux-Devtek's revenues are divided equally between the civil and military sectors.
