The Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu control tower will remain open

Nav Canada announced Thursday that it was giving up closing the control tower at Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu airport, whose operations were scheduled to end in mid-2021.
The 8 air traffic controllers of Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu will therefore be able to keep their jobs. The 11 layoffs planned at the Montreal Air Traffic Control Center are also revised down to 8, according to Benoit Vachon, regional vice-president of the Canadian Air Traffic Control Association (ACCTA).
Nav Canada will also maintain services in the other seven towers threatened with closure.
