London City Airport Steep Angle Approach for Landing Requires Special Certification for the Aircraft
SWISS CSeries flight LX466 will be leaving Zurich at the end of the afternoon landing at London City Airport right for dinner time!
The first flight out of London City Airport, LX467, is scheduled for 1h30 later, flying back to Zurich.
SWISS will be holding a media briefing upon arrival at the airport. Bombardier will be present to underscore this "First" for its new CSeries.
Landing at London City Airport requires a specific certification for "Steep Approaches". Such certification was obtained for the CSeries CS100 at the end of April 2016 by both, Transport Canada and the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA). ILS/PAPI are set at 5.5 degrees instead of the regular 3 degrees at conventional airports.

This "Special" capability allows airlines the choice to fly CSeries additional routes to challenging airports around the world where such certification is required.
