Hi y'all doing? First I want to say "Hang On" to my very good friends of Texas who are living with the consequences of Harvey… I love that state! Nice people! Strong people! Don't change! Keep it up!
This first one is about airBaltic 3rd CS300… It has been grounded for a week or so… Speculations are going on, but here is the reality, it's easy, engines!
This is the reason why Korean Airlines wants to take delivery of their CSeries equipped with the 6000h (final) combustion liner version of the engine
Scheduled engine maintenance was performed as it should have been; new engines had to be delivered to airBaltic while the existing engines are returned to Pratt & Whitney. The core needs to be open for the replacement of the 2000 hours combustion liner with the 6000 hours version returning those engines to Pratt & Whitney. From what I hear Bombardier via Pratt & Whitney is leasing a pair for now just to help airBaltic (and Pratt & Whitney). At the end of the day, it's resolved; Bombardier is making some money on this. This is the reason why Korean Airlines wants to take delivery of their CSeries equipped with the 6000h (final) combustion liner version of the engine.
Good news… Pratt & Whitney has started the delivery to Bombardier of engines featuring the new 6000 hours combustion liners 2 weeks ago. The initial set has been installed on first Korean Air CSeries CS300 MSN 55018.
It's true that Bombardier is producing more aircraft than they can deliver… I'm not going to talk "again" about this… just read these articles from me and Normand Hamel on Fliegerfaust.
Until Bombardier makes changes to the factory there's nothing new to say on this subject else than "it's a Traffic Jam" at the "uncompleted" CSeries factory in Mirabel. When you have to remove parts from a CSeries aircraft to make it fit into a CRJ hangar that was not modified (doors) for CSeries… I rest my case.
It's amassing more delays, slowly but surely it is. SWISS 4th CS300 MSN 55013 has started its pre-delivery test flights 2 days ago. It is currently in flight doing its 2nd flight as I'm writing this. After returning later this afternoon a 2nd crew should take it out for the performance flight. First crew has been limited by duty air time legal limitation.
More delays I heard you say? To give you an idea, at the beginning of summer the delivery scheduled date for MSN 55013 was to be around August first. Today is August 31. I'm "expecting" 2 more weeks or about before its delivery.
SWISS 5th CS300 MSN 55014 "shall" be doing its first flight (pre-delivery test) tomorrow September 1, 2017.
Korean Air first CSeries MSN 55018 is moving up the chain… Expect its first flight in mid or 2nd half of September. More on this one very soon! Stay tuned to Fliegerfaust and twitter @theFliegerfaust account. Facebook Fliegerfaust page also.
The CSeries at Avianor MSN 55016 is still there. It will not be returning to Bombardier before at least to the end of September. Avianor will not get its next CSeries (MSN 55017/KAL) until the first one is returned to Bombardier. Few weeks delay here so far. As for KAL (Korean Airlines) their 2nd CSeries to be delivered is 55019, before 55017.
I will release more on the CSeries World Tour soon… Stay tuned for Part 4 very soon… Get up to speed and Read Part 3 here.
